Services (Arts and Culture):
ACANA arts and cultural department provides
program assistance to African recording artists
to help them improve their works by locating
resources and funding to promote and support
works of the individual artist. These artists
also support African arts and cultural
activities in our after-school program. They
teach students African drumming and dance and
the art of playing other cultural instruments;
beginning January 18th 2005, ACANA in
collaboration with the Big Picture Alliance (BPA)
introduces the production of a media documentary
in partnership with BPA to implement a PEW
funded grant which targets the population we
serve. ACANA also co-produces the ECHOES of
Africa - a City of Philadelphia supported
African cultural festival which brings together
several communities and City residents to
welcome the African immigrants in the city of
Philadelphia. ACANA also holds a multi-
Cultural Fashion event at the Pennsylvania
Convention Center to celebrate black history
month annually.
